For many people, Tangle® is a familiar object - something to twist, turn and reshape almost instinctively. There is no single “correct” form.

Every movement reveals another possibility, and every pair of hands creates something slightly different.

What is less widely known is that Tangle did not begin simply as a product. Its origins are rooted in nearly half a century of artistic exploration by American sculptor and inventor Richard X. Zawitz.

RICHARD X. ZAWITZ

A Sculpture You Can Touch

Inspired by Eastern philosophy, Zawitz has spent decades exploring the relationship between form, energy and space. In nature, absolute right angles are rare. Waves, vines and galaxies unfold through curves, spirals and continuous movement.

For Zawitz, this flowing geometry became a visual language - one that speaks to energy, connection and constant transformation.

Art can sometimes feel distant, something to be observed rather than experienced. Zawitz challenges that idea. Whether expressed through a monumental sculpture or a Tangle held in the palm, his work invites a direct, physical relationship between people and form.

The same language of curves can take many forms: a sculpture, a tactile object, a fashion piece or an element within the urban environment. The scale and medium may change, but the underlying idea remains the same: a form that is never truly fixed, always open to movement and capable of becoming something new.

This philosophy eventually gave rise to Tangle - not simply as a toy, but as a kind of sculpture in the hand. It can be touched, turned and continuously reimagined, transforming each interaction into a small act of creation.

From the Palm to the City:Making Art Part of Everyday Life at Qianhai Kerry Centre

This August, Qianhai Kerry Centre and Richard X. Zawitz jointly present “Infinite Living Through Creativity”, bringing his sculptural practice into the everyday spaces of Shenzhen.

The exhibition connects Zawitz’s ongoing exploration of infinite form with Qianhai Kerry Centre’s vision of “the good life”- an invitation to slow down, remain curious and rediscover creativity within the rhythms of everyday life.

The sculptures placed throughout the open spaces of Qianhai Kerry Centre and the Tangle held in one’s hand are, in many ways, telling the same story.

People from different backgrounds come together within the same open, green urban environment - observing, exploring and experiencing the space in their own ways. Here, art is not separated from everyday life. It becomes part of the places people move through, work in, gather in and return to each day.

INFINITE WOMAN IN BLUE

From the palm to the city, from one artist’s exploration to an experience that anyone can participate in, creativity continues to evolve through connection.

Be present. Experience the everyday. Stay curious.

Bring Your Tangle. Explore the Possibilities.

Art does not always have to be viewed from a distance.
It can be held, touched, worn, reshaped - and become part of everyday life.
This time, bring your own Tangle to Qianhai Kerry Centre and discover the dialogue between the small  form in your hand and the larger sculptures around you.A familiar curve, expanded into the city.A sculpture you can touch. And perhaps, another way to experience infinite creativity.
